chocolART as a guest in Wernigerode

From October 30 to November 3, 2024, it is chocolate time — head to Wernigerode when it’s once again time to say: ‘Happiness is only a bar of chocolate away.
As the weather slowly turns colder, the sweetest time of the year begins to arrive. For all chocolate lovers, chocolART in Wernigerode is an unforgettable journey into the world of sweet temptation. Once again, the SALON DU CHOCOLAT offers an extraordinary experience — the special chocolate train to the Brocken. Not only chocolate enthusiasts, but all guests can enjoy a delightful experience for the senses and first-class entertainment. On the way to the highest peak of the Harz Mountains and Northern Germany, the Brocken, Wernigerode’s master pastry chef and chocolatier Michael Wiecker presents fascinating insights and offers tastings of Germany’s most beloved “source of happiness.” Guests can look forward to expert presentations on the history and origins of chocolate and pralines. Tickets for this special experience can be booked here. Good to know — chocolate facts: Bad news for fans of the white variety: by definition, chocolate must contain cocoa solids, so white “chocolate” does not technically count as chocolate. Chocolate is often said to be addictive, as it contains caffeine and other stimulating substances. Even in the finest chocolate, sugar plays the leading role by activating the brain’s reward system and creating cravings for this sweet treat. Most importantly, chocolate makes us happy. The “happiness hormone” serotonin is produced when tryptophan — a component of cocoa — is broken down. It stimulates the brain, relaxes the body, and creates a feeling of well-being. Money cannot buy happiness — but chocolate can.
