The originally Romanesque church, dating back to 1230, was abandoned due to the declining number of members in the St. Sylvestri and Liebfrauen parish congregation. In 2019, the former church was entrusted to the caring hands of the Kulturstiftung Wernigerode.Thanks to its architectural design, the hall church is perfectly suited as a concert venue. With seating for 480 guests, visitors can enjoy the outstanding acoustics while admiring the striking architecture. The Konzerthaus Liebfrauen forms the musical heart of the music and cultural town of Wernigerode.After a long wait, musicians from around the world will once again gather here in Wernigerode for the 7th International Piano Competition NEW STARS. The opening concert of this renowned competition, featuring Florian Krumpöck, will take place in the distinguished setting of the Konzerthaus Liebfrauen on March 13, 2022.
