12th International Johannes Brahms Choral Festival

Wernigerode will, for the 12th time, become the center of international choral music and a meeting point for choir enthusiasts from July 5 to July 9, 2023.
Since 1999, the International Johannes Brahms Choir Competition has been a major attraction for choirs and music groups from all over the world. Four years after the last international choir festival in Wernigerode, choirs from around the world will finally return in July 2023 to the ‘Colorful Town in the Harz Mountains,’ enchanting locals with their voices and cultural diversity. Wernigerode is not only known for its unique charm of medieval architecture, but also for its strong musical tradition: three renowned German choirs originate from this picturesque Harz town. The musical focus of the competition is dedicated to the composer Johannes Brahms and other Romantic composers of the 19th century. Thanks to its intimate atmosphere, beautiful setting, and international diversity, the festival has become one of the most popular events organized by Interkultur. For the first time, the competitions and a large part of the events will take place in the new Konzerthaus Liebfrauen. Opening concert at the Konzerthaus Liebfrauen, Wednesday, 05/07/2023 at 7:30 PM – “Lux Aeterna” – MDR Radio Choir Tickets are available here: Opening Concert Tickets
